Gang War in Tihar
This podcast revolves around the recent gang war in Tihar and the issues related to it. Interestingly, this is the 10th year of Tinka Tinka Tihar, a unique series that was created in 2013. The book of the same title was edited by Vimla Mehra, IPS ( DG, Delhi Prisons) and Vartika Nanda (Founder, Tinka Tinka Foundation). This series got a respectable mention in the Limca book of Records twice.

On its Foundation Day today, Tinka Tinka Foundation is releasing the unique signature tune, titled “ Main Hoon Tinka”, created by Dr. Suchit Narang, Arun, and Rohit Verma. Incarcerated in District Jail, Dehradun, these inmates are today embarking upon a new journey, rewriting the script of their lives. Suchit is visually challenged but is gifted with extraordinary musical talent. His voice is unmatchable

From Dasna to Dehradun- why are these voices important
“Toote apni aas na yeh hai apna Dasna” In 2016, a song was created in the premises of Uttar Pradesh’s Dasna Jail. Conceived and written by India’s leading prison reformer Dr. Vartika Nanda, the composition was sung by 13 inmates of District Jail, Dasna. It was filmed in front of the main wall of the Jail. The song was later declared the theme song of the jail.

मुगलों के जमाने में बने जिला जेल, आगरा में स्थापित रेडियो बंदियों की जिंदगी का सहारा बन गया है। ठीक चार साल पहले 31 जुलाई को इस रेडियो का शुभारंभ एसएसपी बबलू कुमार, जेल अधीक्षक शशिकांत मिश्रा और तिनका तिनका की फाउंडेशन संस्थापिका वर्तिका नन्दा ने किया था। जेल रेडियो की परिकल्पना और उसका प्रशिक्षण वर्तिका नन्दा ने करवाया था। उस समय आईआईएम बेंगलुरु से स्नातक महिला बंदी – तुहिना और स्नातकोत्तर पुरुष बंदी- उदय को रेडियो जॉकी बनाया गया था।
Independence Day: Release of inmates and the road ahead
On the occasion of Independence Day, Indian prisons are set to release numerous inmates as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. Introduced last year in three phases, this remission program reaches its final stage on the 77th Independence Day celebration.
