मैंने ऐसी आवाज इससे पहले कभी नहीं सुनी। आज तिनका तिनका अपना सिग्नेचर ट्यून आपसे बांट रहा है। यह बेहद रोमांचक अनुभव जिला जेल, देहरादून में संभव हुआ। डॉ. सुचित नारंग, रोहित वर्मा और अरुण- यह तीन नाम अब आप कभी भूल नहीं पाएंगे। जेल के स्टूडियो में बैठकर इन्होंने रचा है इतिहास और इनके हाथों को थामा है- तीन जेल अधिकारियों ने-    विमला गुंज्याल/ महानिरीक्षक कारागार, दधिराम, वरिष्ठ अधीक्षक, जिला कारागार देहरादून/उपमहानिरीक्षक कारागार और पवन कुमार कोठारी, कारापाल, जिला कारागार देहरादून।

सुचित नेत्रहीन हैं लेकिन जेल में आए तो तीन बंदी और तीन अधिकारी जैसे उनकी आंखें बन गए। सुनिए, इन तीन बंदियों की लिखा, सुचित का गाया यह सिग्नेचर ट्यून जो अब तिनका की पहचान होगा। हो सके, तो इन्हें प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए कुछ पंक्तियां भी लिख दीजिए। 

Have you ever witnessed magic coming from jail? 

On its Foundation Day today, Tinka Tinka Foundation is releasing the magical signature tune, titled “ Main Hoon Tinka”,  created by Dr. Suchit Narang, Arun, and Rohit Verma. Incarcerated in District Jail, Dehradun, these inmates are today embarking upon a new journey, rewriting the script of their lives. 

Suchit is visually challenged but is gifted with extraordinary musical talent. His voice is unmatchable. 

Written, composed, and edited in a small jail radio room of District Jail, Dehradun, this outstanding accomplishment is a result of collaborative effort between Dr Vartika Nanda, Founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation and District Jail, Dehradun.

This creative marvel received full support of the state’s Inspector General of Prisons Vimla Gunjyal, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons and Senior Superintendent of Dehradun Jail, Dadhiram and Jailor Pawan Kothari during the arduous process of its creation. Absorbing the essence of Tinka Tinka’s mission, this tune encapsulates the hopes of inmates for a better future through reformation.  

Over the past 7 years, Tinka Tinka Foundation has endeavored to promote musical vibrations into the most gloomy corners of jails. We will continue to do so.

Background:

Tinka Tinka Jail Radio podcasts are the only podcasts in India that are solely dedicated to prison reforms. Tinka Tinka Foundation is the brainchild of media educator and prison reformer, Dr. Vartika Nanda. She is a prison reformer and founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation, an organisation that aims to bring positive change in prisons. 

Vartika Nanda was conferred with the Stree Shakti Puraskar by the President of India in 2014 for her seminal contribution to women empowerment through media and literature. Her name has appeared in the Limca Book of Records twice, for her unique contribution to prison reforms, which was also taken due cognizance by the Supreme Court of India in 2018. Currently, she heads the Department of Journalism, Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University.

Dr Vartika Nanda has also authored three books on prisons, Tinka Tinka Tihar, Tinka Tinka Dasna, and Tinka Tinka Madhya Pradesh that present authentic documentation of life in prisons. Through her books, Dr Nanda strives to connect the two realities – the real life tests of inmates and of perception. These books are a tribute to the human spirit that shines in each of these inmates, regardless of their circumstances. 

A former journalist, she now heads the Department of Journalism in Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. These podcasts are conceptualised, scripted and voiced by her.
