The Project
This project was Tinka Tinka’s endeavour at bringing about a positive change in the District Jail, Dasna, situated in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Like its predecessor, ‘Tinka Tinka Dasna’ involved many creative pursuits like the creation of a calendar, a theme song, a book and the painting of the central wall of the jail.
The Calender
The calendar, with the title – Tinka Tinka Dasna– was a collection of the many literary and musical ventures introduced within the Dasna Jail. This calendar was based on the work of four inmates and was a total of six pages.
The Wall
The song was shot in front of the Central wall of the District Jail, Dasna with a dimension of 20×8 feet. The central wall was painted with the title- ‘Tinka Tinka Dasna’ that revolved around the concept of incarceration. This area is the common space that inmates use the most. The central wall was painted by Vivek Swami, an inmate, along with three other inmates. The ten elements on the wall stand as reflections of life in the prison. Writing about the wall, an article in HT City published on January 9, 2016, stated:
“One end of this painting portrays darkness, where the moon and the stars can be seen twinkling in the day. The other end depicts a part of the song which has been written by Dr. Vartika Nanda and sung by the prisoners. Here in the daytime, the moon with all its stars continues to shine and at night time, the Sun could be seen dazzling with all its brilliance. Between the two ends of the wall, there are ten names which depict life in the Jail. These include a blue eye, a letter, a lamp, a leaf, a key, a lock a necklace, a clock, a photo frame and an open window. All of these are reflections of life within the Jail. These objects are treasured in the fond memories of the ten prisoners who promptly came forward to contribute to the venture.”
ABP News
ABP News did a special show on January 11, 2016 at Dasna Jail about the three –dimensional painting in the jail that was made by inmates and for the inmates. This painting is on the central wall of the prison which the inmates cross by and gather around on a daily basis. The show included all the four inmates who have painted the wall along with the thirteen inmates who sung the theme song of the prison.
Vijay Vidrohi, the anchor of the show, interviewed several inmates including the four, who painted the wall. The conversation also included the thirteen inmates who sang and recorded the theme song of the prison in front of the painted wall. This song was written and conceptualized by Vartika Nanda. Out of the thirteen singers, ten inmates were on life imprisonment at the time of the shoot. The inmates spoke very positively about the project and its impact on their lives. Dharamveer was one of the inmates who sang the prison theme song. He said that – “United by music, their fear and apprehension of jail is now a distant memory”.
Theme Song
Conceptualised, written and directed by Dr. Nanda, the song titled ‘Tinka Tinka Dasna’ was sung by 13 inmates of Dasna Jail of whom, ten were under life imprisonment. It was released on Valentine’s Day to spread the message of compassion and the need for bonding within jails. The song was released by the then Minister of Prisons, Uttar Pradesh Government.
The Book
The book records the journey of five individuals whose lives changed after being sentenced to life imprisonment in Dasna Jail and how their search for meaning altered owing to their circumstances. The names of three of them might sound familiar to most people: Surinder Kohli, Dr. Rajesh Talwar and Dr. Nupur Talwar. The book combined methods of media and literature and during the process of its creation, fostered the construction of creative spaces that allowed inmates to give expression to their emotions. The process consciously aimed at rekindling hope in the lives of inmates. The book was released in the jail on 8 January, 2017. It was the very first instance of a book released in any prison. This book is translated into English by Dr. Nupur Talwar. She was imprisoned in the jail at that time.
The second edition of the book was released in 2019 by the DG Prison Department, Uttar Pradesh Shri Anand Kumar and Shri Sulkhan Singh, former DG, Uttar Pradesh. This was released in District Jail, Lucknow during the 5th Tinka Tinka India Awards ceremony.

Creative Expression
Dr. Nanda along with the famous dancer Shovana Narayan and singer Kumud Diwan organized an ensemble titled “Woman–A Journey Called Life”. While Shovana Narayan performed her Kathak dance based on the theme of the “various stages a woman passes through in life” and the emotions corresponding to them, Kumud Diwan performed compositions of Banaras Thumri on the same theme. Dr. Nanda presented excerpts and poems on the same theme from her works “Raniyan Sab Janti Hain”and “Tinka Tinka Dasna”. The programme witnessed the representation of Tinka Tinka poetry from jails into classical music and dance. The Chief Guest of the programme, was Mridula Sinha, Governor, Goa. The program was organised on March, 2016.

‘दिल को झकझोरती, संवेदनाएं जगाती है’ तिनका-तिनका डासना: राजेश कुमार
समाज से अलग एक ऐसी जगह जहां पर रहने के अपने नियम-कायदे हैं. वहां पर कोई अपनी मर्जी से नहीं जा सकता है और न ही अपनी मर्जी से निकल सकता. इसके अंदर का जीवन समाज के लिए आज भी किसी रहस्य से कम नहीं है. जहां पर न रंग है और न ही कोई खुशी. जी हां, जेल में एक कैदी के लिए जिंदगी काटना कितना मुश्किल होता है, कैसे एक शख्स की सजा की परछाई न सिर्फ वो बल्कि उसके अपने सालों-साल भुगतते रहे हैं. कैसे जेलों के अंदर क्षमता से लगभग दोगुनी संख्या में कैदी सजा काट रहे हैं, बिना किसी अपराध एक अपराधी की जिंदगी जीते मासूम और महिलाओं की जेल के अंदर दयनीय स्थिति… इन सभी को बखूबी साहित्यिक माध्यम से जेल सुधारक और शिक्षिका डॉ. वर्तिका नंदा की किताब ‘तिनका-तिनका डासना’ के जरिए समाज के सामने लाया गया है.
इस किताब की सबसे खास बात ये है कि एक तरफ जहां जेल को लेकर हमारे सामाजिक सोच पर कड़ा चोट किया गया है, तो वहीं जेल के अंदर की उस दुनिया को बाहर लाने का प्रयास किया गया है, जो न किसी फिल्म में दिखाई गई और न ही दिखाई जा सकती है. किसी को सिर्फ जेल भेज देने से कैसे समाज उसे दोषी मानकर दुत्कारता है, कैसे वे अपने अकेलेपन की जिंदगी इस जेल के अंदर बिताता है और जब वे उस जेल के अंदर से बाहर आता है तो कैसे समाज का उसके प्रति नजरिया बदलता है, उसे तिनका-तिनका डासना ने बखूबी वर्णन किया है.
वो चाहे बात आरूषि मर्डर केस में दिल्ली से सटे गाजियाबाद की डासना जेल में बंद रहे डॉ. नुपूर तलवार और राजेश तलवार की बात हो या फिर फांसी की सजा ऐन वक्त पर टली सुरेन्द्र कोली की. हालांकि, इसमें मीडिया को भी बार-बार उसकी सामाजिक भूमिका और आरूषि केस में उसकी गलती की बातें याद दिलाई गई है.
दिल को झकझोरती किताब
34 एकड़ में बनी डासना जेल को लेकर तिनका-तिनका डासना में एक जेलर की भूमिका के बारे में बताया गया है, जिसे समाज एक सख्त मिजाज का मानता है, लेकिन वास्तव में कैदियों के लिए न सिर्फ काउंसलर का काम करते हैं बल्कि वे एक उम्मीद दिलाने का काम करते हैं.
इस किताब के पेज नंबर 33 में जिस तरह से कैदियों को अपनों के साथ संवाद का वर्णन किया गया है, ऐसा लगता है कि किताब की लेखिका ने अपना दिल ही निकालकर रख दिया हो.
यहां पर एक दिल को छूने वाली लाइन लिखी गई है-
‘लोहे के पार एक हाथ उस दूसरे बेबस के हाथ को छूना चाहता है, उसे भरोसा और हिम्मत देना चाहता है. लोहा इस बेबसी को देखता है. लोहा पिघलना चाहता है पर नियम नहीं है. नियम सरकार ने बनाए हैं और सख्ती की बात जैसे लोहे पर उड़ेल दी गई है. क्या करे लोहा, लोहे के पास जुबान नहीं है.’
किताब की पेज संख्या 38-39 पर जेलों के अंदर महिलाओं की नारकीय स्थिति का बखूबी वर्णन किया है, जब साल 2012 में 55 महिला कैदियों की जेल के अंदर मौत हो गई थी.
इसमें क्षमता से अधिक कैदियों की संख्या और उससे होने वाली भारी परेशानियों को बहुत मार्मिक ढंग से रख सरकार से लेकर न्यायपालिका तक को इस तरफ ध्यान दिलाने की साहित्यिक माध्यम से कोशिश की गई है.
अपराधी की जिंदगी जीते बच्चे
तिनका तिनका डासना के पेज नंबर 46 और 47 पर जेल के अंदर पलने वाले बच्चों की उस मनोदशा को सामने लाने की कोशिश की गई है, जिससे ये दिखावा में विश्वास करने वाला समाज बिल्कुल ही अनजान है.
इसमें आरडी उपाध्याय की याचिका पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट के उस फैसले का जिक्र किया गया है, जिसमें सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ये कहा गया था-
जेल में आने वाले बच्चे विचाराधीन या सजायाफ्ता बंदी के तौर पर न देखा जाए. ये बच्चे बेहतर खाने, रहने, मेडिकल सुविधा, कपड़े, शिक्षा और मनोरंजन की सुविधा के हकदार है. लेकिन हकीकत में ये सब चीजें इनसे कोसों दूर है. न बच्चों को लेकर जेल संवेदनशील और न ही महिलाओं की स्थिति को लेकर.
तिनका तिनका डासना में एक कैदी के अपनों से मुलाकात के उस पल का ऐसा वर्णन किया गया है कि पढ़ने वालों के दिल को भर दे. इसमें पेज नंबर 56 पर कैदी और उसके रिश्तेदारों की मुलाकात पर लाइन लिखी गई है-
आधे घंटे के बाद जब सभी अपने बैरक में लौटते हैं तो जमीन पर बिछी घास खुद को भावनाओं से भिगा पाती है. घास के पास शब्द नहीं है. पेड़ों की शाख पर बैठे पंछी इस अकुलाहट को देखते हैं पर वे भी उड़ कर इस संवाद को जाने कहां पहुंचा देते हैं.
नूपुर तलवार से कोहली तक
तिनका-तिनका डासनास के पेज नंबर 63 पर नूपुर तलवार और राजेश तलवार के जेल के अंदर बुरे दौर को संवेदनाओं के साथ सामने लाने का प्रयास किया है, जब बिना कारण उन्हें अपराधी मान लिया जाता, मीडिया से लेकर समाज तक उसे दोषी करार देता है और उसके बाद एक सम्मान की जिंदगी जीने वाले डॉक्टर दंपत्ति किस तरह अर्श से फर्श पर आ जाते है. उसके बावजूद एक उम्मीद का दामन और कैदियों के बीच उसे बरकरार रखना इसे डॉक्टर वर्तिका नंदा ने इस किताब के जरिए बखूबी पेश किया है. साथ ही, मीडिया को सूचना प्रसारण मंत्रालय की तरफ से इस रिपोर्टिंग को लेकर पड़ी झाड़ को भी पत्रकारिता की लक्ष्मण रेखा के तौर पर बताने की कोशिश की गई है.
निष्कर्ष:
कुल मिलाकर तिनका तिनका डासना साहित्य के माध्यम से न सिर्फ एक कैदी के बेरंग जीवन, न्यायिक व्यवस्था पर चोट और दिखावेपूर्ण समाज में जेल को लेकर उसकी सोच का चित्रण कर उस पर करार चोट किया गया है, बल्कि इस व्यवस्था में किस तरह से सुधार किया जाए, कैसे एक कैदी को उसके जीवन में रंग भरा जाए… इन सभी चीजों की तरफ तिनका तिनका डासना इस समाज, सरकार और न्यायिक व्यवस्था का ध्यान दिलाने का प्रयास कर रहा है.

‘तिनका तिनका डासना’ विषय सामग्री, लेखकीय व्यक्तित्व और अभिव्यंजना शैली तीनों ही दृष्टियों से वर्तिका नंदा की एक महत्त्वपूर्ण व उल्लेखनीय पुस्तक है। यदि विषय को लें तो यह सामान्य से हटकर इस अर्थ में है कि यह उस जनसमुदाय के उन जीवन पृष्ठों को हमारे समक्ष खोलता है जो सामान्यतया बंद दीवारों के बीच पड़े-पड़े बीतते समय के साथ गलते चले जाते हैं। जिन पर लिखी इबारत अनचीन्हीं ही रह जाती है। ये उपेक्षित जीवन उन जेलवासियों के हैं जो हाशिए के समाज की परिधि से भी छिटककर एक नए हाशिए में तब्दील हो जाते हैं। जिनकी सिसकियाँ, हिचकियाँ और आर्त पुकार जेल की दीवारें सुनती तो हैं पर चुपचाप अपने सीने में दफ्न कर देती हैं। जहाँ तक लेखक की स्थिति और सरोकार का प्रश्न है तो जेल की जीवन पद्धति को यथार्थपरक समग्रता में उभारने वाला अपने आप में यह एक अनूठा प्रयास है, जो स्त्री लेखन के एक नये आयाम को हमारे समक्ष उद्घाटित करता है। अनुभव और व्यवहार जगत से चिंतन और संवेदना तक एक लम्बी यात्रा और अंत में संवेदना का लेखन में रूपांतरण। इस कष्टकर एवं श्रमसाध्य प्रक्रिया को एक सार्थक परिणति प्रदान करना लेखिका के अदम्य साहस, प्रतिबद्धता, लगन और सर्जनात्मक क्षमता का प्रमाण है। अतः चेतना को झकझोरने वाली यह विचारोत्तेजक पुस्तक एक श्रेष्ठ उपलब्धि है।
लेखिका के अपने शब्दों में, “इस पूरी किताब को साहित्य और पत्रकारिता के कुछ तय मापदंडों से हटकर लिखा है। जो दिखा, जो देखा, उसे लिखा। यहाँ खबर में कहानी है, कहानी में खबर है और दोनों में पूरा सच है। दोनों में इंसान है। जिन्होनें जेल नहीं देखी, उनके लिए यहाँ जेल के तकरीबन हर अंश को मैनें समेटने की कोशिश की है। (तिनका तिनका डासना, पृष्ठ 13)
लेखिका अपराधी समाज के बीच स्वयं जाकर उनसे सीधे संवाद का साहस जुटाती हैं। इस संवाद के माध्यम से वे परस्पर विश्वास का सेतु निर्मित कर, उनके मर्मस्थल की थाह लेती हैं। एक ओर जहाँ वे पूर्वाग्रह मुक्त होकर फैसले का इंतज़ार कर रहे अपराधी मान लिए गए लोगों के मनोविज्ञान को समझने का प्रयास करती हैं, तो दूसरी ओर पीड़ा, पश्चाताप, विवशता, आक्रोश, अपराध-बोध से उद्वेलित हृदयों की जटिल मनःस्थिति से गहन संवेदनात्मक धरातल पर जुड़ते हुए सच्चाई और ईमानदारी के साथ उसे व्यक्त भी करती हैं जो उनके व्यक्तित्व की दृढ़ता, संवेदनशीलता व सकारात्मक सोच का प्रमाण है।
वर्तिका ने इन विषादयुक्त हृदयों के अंधकारपूर्ण कोनों में झाँकने के साथ-साथ इनमें छिपी आशा, आकांक्षा, आस्था, सहृदयता, प्रेम और उत्साह जैसी सकारात्मक वृत्तियों को लक्षित किया है। यही नहीं, उनमें विद्यमान मनुष्यता के उस निर्मल स्रोत को सर्जनात्मकता में ढालकर उन्हें सकारात्मक ऊर्जा में रूपांतरण के लिए प्रेरित भी किया है।
“इस किताब में विशाखापत्तनम के रहने वाले विवेक स्वामी की बनाई पेंटिंग भी प्रमुखता से शामिल है। वह भी डासना में बंदी था।
“मेरे स्कैच करके दिए गए आइडिया को उसने जिस लगन और सूझबूझ के साथ बनाया, वह तारीफ़ से परे है।”

“दीवार पर बनाई गयी यह पेंटिंग करीब 10 साल तक इसी तरह बनी रहेगी। इस पेंटिंग का एक सिरा अँधेरे में है जहाँ चाँद और सितारे दिन में जगमगाते दिखेंगे। दूसरे सिरे में उस गाने का एक अंश है जिसे मैनें लिखा है पर बंदियों ने गाया है। मेरा मन था कि यह दीवार इस जेल के लिए शक्ति-पुंज बन जाए। इसकी परिकल्पना यही सोच कर की गई थी कि यह बंदियों को चौबीसों घंटे किसी भरोसे से जोड़े रखे। शायद ऐसा ही हुआ भी है।” (वही, पृष्ठ 15-16)
इस पुस्तक को पढ़ते हुए मुझे यह महसूस हुआ जैसे मैं एक लम्बी कथात्मक कविता पढ़ रही हूँ, जिसमें संवेदना का सघन प्रवाह है, तथ्यों से दृश्यों में रूपांतरित होते मर्मस्पर्शी बिम्ब हैं जिनके मूल में अनुभव और विचारधारा के घात-संघात से उत्पन्न मानवीय सरोकारों से उत्प्रेरित, सचेत, सूक्ष्म और पैनी आलोचनात्मक दृष्टि सक्रिय है। लेखिका का रचनात्मक संस्कार पत्रकार और कवयित्री दोनों रूपों से मिलकर निर्मित हुआ है। इसी से जहाँ एक और संवेदना तथ्यों के ठोस धरातल पर प्रवाहित हुई है, वहीँ दूसरी ओर संवेदना के आर्द्र संस्पर्श से तथ्य और आँकड़े जीवंत सत्य के रूप में उभर पाए। कोरी भावुकता और रूखे तथ्य वर्णन के स्थान पर यहाँ जेल जीवन का ऐसा मार्मिक यथार्थ चित्रण है जिसमें सच इकहरा और एकांगी रूप में न आकर परत-दर-परत खुलता चला जाता है।
“यहाँ हर वो बात ज़रूरी है जिसे आज़ादी का कायदा बेमानी मानता है।”
जो अंदर है, वो बाहर से आये इस ‘अपने’ को अपने कुशल-मंगल होने का भरोसा दिलाता है।
शब्द बार – बार कहते हैं – वह ठीक है पर शरीर और आँखें वैसा कह नही पातीं। जो बाहर है, वह भी कहता है कि सब ठीक है पर उसका भी न तो शरीर और न ही आँखें वैसा कह पाती हैं। शरीर झूठ नहीं कह पाता। आँखें भी सच छुपा नहीं पातीं। आने वाला उम्मीद भरे शब्दों की पोटली लाता है । सुनने वाला उस पोटली से थोड़ी देर खेलता है। पोटली दोनों के बीच कहीं छूट जाती है।” (वही, पृष्ठ 29)
प्रत्यक्ष चित्रण का केंद्र जेल के भीतर का जीवन है किन्तु पृष्ठभूमि के रूप में अप्रत्यक्षतः बाह्य सामाजिक जीवन का बहुआयामी चित्र भी उभरता जाता है। लेखिका ने इस पुस्तक में अपराधों की रिपोर्टिंग करने वाली मीडिया की भूमिका पर भी प्रश्न चिन्ह लगाए हैं। वह मीडिया जो सदा सच को जनता के सामने लाने का दावा करती रही है जो न्यायालय के फैसले से पूर्व ही अपने निष्कर्ष देने लगती है। सनसनी उत्पन्न करने की होड़ में तथ्यों को तोड़-मरोड़कर मनगढंत कहानियाँ परोसती है। अपने गैर जिम्मेदाराना आचरण से लोगों के जीवन को किस प्रकार लांछन और अपमान के यातनापूर्ण अन्धकार में धकेल देती है। इस पर लेखिका की बेबाक टिप्पणी देखी जा सकती है –
“कहीं बात मीडिया की भी करनी होगी। लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तम्भ के रूप में मीडिया ने बेशक संवाद को पहिए लगा दिए हैं और देश के विकास को भी। मीडिया सक्षम, सबल और समर्थ हुआ है लेकिन कई बार अपने रोल में मीडिया चूका भी है। किसी खबर को देने की हड़बड़ी। कहीं कोई खबर पहले छीन न ले – इस भागमभाग में बहुत बार जिंदगियाँ छिन जाती हैं।” (वही, पृष्ठ 12)
लेखिका ने आरुषि हत्याकांड के आरोपी उसके माता-पिता तलवार दम्पति के विडम्बनापूर्ण जीवन का चित्रण करते हुए इस दारुण स्थिति को बड़ी साफगोई के साथ उजागर किया है। राजेश की भाभी वंदना का जिक्र करते हुए वे लिखती हैं –
“वे मीडिया से संपर्क बनाए रखने की कोशिश करती हैं ताकि खलिश कहीं तो कम हो । बार-बार यह अहसास गहराता है कि इस मामले की रिपोर्टिंग में मीडिया अपने तयशुदा रोल से कहीं आगे और कहीं जल्दी निकल गया।”

“वंदना को कचोटता है कि लोगों को यह कहाँ याद कि सरकार ने भी मीडिया के एक हिस्से को गैर-जिम्मेदाराना माना था। लोगों को शायद सिर्फ वही याद है जो उन्हें परोसा गया था। तस्वीरों से जुडी याददाश्त कब और कैसे मिटेगी, इसकी चुभन उन्हें चैन नहीं लेने देती।” (वही, पृष्ठ 59)
नूपुर और राजेश तलवार दोनों पति-पत्नी सन 2008 में अपनी इकलौती पुत्री आरुषि और नौकर हेमराज की हत्या के इलज़ाम में डासना जेल में बंदी रहे। लेखिका द्वारा वर्णित दोनों के व्यक्तित्व, स्वभाव और जेल में उनके रहन-सहन को देखकर एक शातिर और खूंखार अपराधी के रूप में, वह भी अपनी पुत्री के हत्यारों के रूप में उनकी कल्पना कर पाना जैसे सहसा विश्वास ही नहीं होता। लेखिका हमारे समक्ष मानवीय सरोकारों व संवेदना से युक्त वह नजरिया रखती है जिसकी रौशनी में हम सच को नए सिरे से जानने और तलाशने के लिए बेचैन हो उठते हैं। ऐसा मह्सूस होने लगता है जैसे जो तथ्य सामने आये हैं या लाए गए हैं वह हत्या की इस गुत्थी को सुलझाने के लिए नाकाफ़ी हैं। न्यायतंत्र को और अधिक तत्पर, सक्रिय व दुरुस्त होने की जरूरत है।
राजेश और नूपुर तलवार के अतिरिक्त लेखिका ने इस पुस्तक में कुछ और कैदियों के विषय में भी चर्चा की है, जिनमें से कुछ के नाम हैं –

इनमें से अधिकतर लोग हत्या के मामले में लम्बी सजा काटने वाले कैदी हैं। उल्लेखनीय बात यह है कि इनमें से अधिकांश मानसिक वेदना झेलते हुए भी जेल में अपनी सकारात्मक भूमिका में सक्रिय रहते हैं। राजेश और नूपुर तलवार डेंटिस्ट हैं। रिहा होने से पूर्व वे जेल में क़ैदियों के दांतों का इलाज करते रहे। विजय बाबा योग की कक्षाएं लेते हैं। प्रशांत हार्डवेयर इंजीनियर हैं, जेल में कंप्यूटर से जुड़े हर मसले को सुलझाने में सबसे आगे रहते हैं। आशाराम गिरि ने जेल में ही अपनी एक गायन-मण्डली तैयार की और विवेक ने अपनी चित्रकला से जेल की दीवारों को सजाया।

‘तिनका तिनका डासना’ पुस्तक जेल जीवन से जुड़े एक बेहद मार्मिक पहलू को अत्यंत संवेदनशीलता के साथ उभारती है। जेल का वह तबका जो अबोध है, निश्छल है, जिसे अपराध शब्द का अर्थ भी ज्ञात नहीं, अपनी स्थिति और नियति दोनों से बेखबर वे बच्चे हैं, जो या तो जेल में ही पैदा होते हैं या शैशव अवस्था में ही अपनी अपराधी माँओं के साथ जेल में रहने को विवश होते हैं। यह गनीमत है कि जेल में उत्पन्न होने वाले बच्चों का जन्मस्थान ‘जेल’ नहीं लिखा जाता। किन्तु उन्हें अपनी माँ के साथ अधिकाधिक छः वर्ष की उम्र तक रहने की इज़ाज़त होती है। उम्र के वे सबसे नाज़ुक और महत्त्वपूर्ण वर्ष जिनमें बच्चों के मानसिक विकास की नींव तैयार होती है, इन बच्चों को जेल में बिताने पड़ते हैं।
जेल ही उनकी जीवन-अध्ययन की पहली पाठशाला बन जाती है। लेखिका ने जेल के भीतर इन बच्चों के जीवन, रहन-सहन और वातावरण का ऐसा सजीव और मर्मस्पर्शी चित्रण किया है जिसे पढ़कर कठोर-से-कठोर हृदय भी द्रवित हुए बिना नहीं रह सकता।
“यह क्रेश है। नन्ही जानें यहाँ बड़ी तरतीब से बैठी हैं। पर उनकी शरारत नदारद है। ये बच्चे सिर्फ अपनी उम्र और आकार से बच्चे हैं । हंसी गायब है । समय से पहले बूढ़े हो गए हैं यह।” (वही, पृष्ठ 35)
“यहाँ खिलोने हैं थोड़े से। मिट्टी के ढेले से आकार बनाने की मस्ती इनमें पनपी ही नहीं है।

“सात रंग हाथ में थाम कर भी इन बच्चों को काला रंग ही ज्यादा दीखता है । या सब स्याह । रंगों को कहाँ पता कि उनकी पहचान का एक ताल्लुक इस बात से भी है कि उनसे परिचय कब और कहाँ करवाया जा रहा है । इन बच्चों ने इंद्रधनुष कहाँ देखे । इन्होनें माँ के साथ एकं काली परछाई देखी है । वही एक रंग है जो सपनों में इनका पीछा करता है । वही इनका परिचय कहता है । जाने कौन, कब इस काले रंग को पोंछेगा या पोंछेगा भी या नहीं ।” (वही, पृष्ठ 36)
लेखिका के अनुसार जेल में रह रहे इन बच्चों को पढ़ने-लिखने की कुछ सुविधाएँ अवश्य मुहैया करवाई जाती हैं जिनसे उन्हें पाठशाला का आभास तो मिल जाता है, किन्तु ये बच्चे उत्साह और रोचकता से पूर्ण उन अनुभवों से वंचित ही रह जाते हैं, जो एक साधारण बालक को विद्यालयी जीवन में सहजता से मिल जाते हैं। विद्यालय ही नहीं, पारिवारिक और सामाजिक जीवन के ऐसे कितने ही छोटे-छोटे अनुभवों से ये अछूते ही रह जाते हैं जो बचपन की अमूल्य निधि हैं और जो उनके व्यक्तित्व के निर्माण का आधार हो सकते हैं। पुस्तक में प्रस्तुत वर्णन और विवरण चेतना के स्तर पर केवल हमें उद्वेलित ही नहीं करता वरन क्षुब्ध भी करता है। यह जहाँ एक और चिंतन और मनन के लिए विवश करता है, वहीं दूसरी और इस सर्वथा उपेक्षित कर्म-क्षेत्र में सक्रिय होने को उत्प्रेरित भी करता है। लेखिका ने प्राप्त तथ्यों, आँकड़ों, शोध-रिपोर्टों और सुप्रीम कोर्ट के निर्णय का सन्दर्भ देते हुए जेलों में गर्भवती महिलाओं और बच्चों की उचित देखभाल की दिशा में सरकार और विभिन्न संस्थाओं द्वारा किए जाने वाले प्रयासों का उल्लेख भी किया है किन्तु कुल मिलाकर स्थिति अब तक अत्यंत शोचनीय बनी हुई है। इस दिशा में व्यापक स्तर पर बदलाव लाने के लिए यह ज़रूरी है कि केवल सरकार को दोषी ठहराने के स्थान पर प्रत्येक नागरिक संवेदनशील होकर सोचे और अपनी ठोस भूमिका का निर्वाह करे।
जेल जीवन का चित्रण करते हुए लेखिका ने विभिन्न प्रसंगों में जेल प्रशासन और अधिकारियों की सहृदयता और संवेदनशीलता का उल्लेख भी किया है। अनेक नियमों में बंधे होने पर भी इन अधिकारियों ने सकारात्मक रवैया अपनाते हुए कई ऐसे रचनात्मक कदम उठाए हैं, जिनसे सीमित स्तर पर ही सही, क़ैदियों के जीवन में बदलाव की आहट सुनाई पड़ने लगी है।
‘इंडिया विज़न फाउंडेशन’ (एक NGO) द्वारा डासना जेल में कंप्यूटर लैब की स्थापना को अनुमति देना जेल प्रशासन का ऐसा ही एक सकारात्मक निर्णय है। इसके अंतर्गत क़ैदियों के लिए कंप्यूटर प्रशिक्षण का सुचारु प्रबंध किए जाने से मानो उनमें एक नई स्फूर्ति और उत्साह का संचार हो गया है।

कुल मिलाकर यह पुस्तक डासना जेल के माध्यम से एक ओर भारतीय जेलों में बंद क़ैदियों की विडम्बनापूर्ण स्थिति, समाज द्वारा इनके प्रति अपनाए जाने वाले तिरस्कार और उपेक्षापूर्ण रवैये को तो उजागर करती ही है, साथ ही कानून, मीडिया और व्यवस्था की भूमिकाओं पर भी तीखे सवाल उठाती है। यह भी उल्लेखनीय है कि लेखिका का नज़रिया नकारात्मक, हताशापूर्ण और निराशावादी नहीं है। उनका केंद्रीय सरोकार मात्र दोषारोपण और छिद्रान्वेषण करना नहीं, वरन अंधकारपूर्ण यथार्थ के बीच रौशनी की उस मद्धिम लौ को जलाए रखना है जिससे कल संभावनाओं का उजाला फैल सके। ‘तिनका तिनका डासना’ इस विश्वास को और सुदृढ़ करती है कि ‘एक दिया अनेक दियों को जला सकता है, ज़रूरत है बस शुरुआत करने की’।

The book divided into seven parts provides every intricate detail of life behind bars.
The first three parts, through the lives of five prisoners bring to light the other very unknown perspective that you must see. The inqusitive readers get to know how inmates following imprisonment search for a new meaning and reason to live.
Unending worries, gloomy days, sleepless nights and separation from family & society – this is the start to every life which enters the prison. But with support from all others, slowly and gradually a new way out of this darkness is found. Some find peaceful moments in music while some others are great techies. Nupur and Rajesh Talwar are the ones for whom the other prisoners worry more than anyone themselves, since their care for all is beyond words.
Fourth part reckons jail officials who are most often considered as heartless, inhumane creatures.

लोग अक्सर सोचते हैं कि एक तिनके यानी एक मामूली से कण से किसी को क्या फर्क पढ़ेगा लेकिन जब वही कण एक-एक करके आपस में मिलते हैं, तो एक तस्वीर उभरकर बाहर आती है। “तिनका तिनका डासना” वही उभरी हुई तस्वीर है। तिनका तिनका तिहाड़ के बाद भारत की एक औऱ चर्चित जेल ” डासना ” का सफर इस किताब की लेखिका वर्तिका नंदा के द्वारा आरंभ हुआ।
तिनका तिनका डासना में लेखिका लिखती हैं कि इस किताब का उद्देश्य वहां रहने वाले लोगों को उनके दर्द से बाहर निकालकर उन्हें उनके सपनों को सौंपना है। समाज को आईना दिखाना और न्यायिक व्यवस्था से मानवीय होने की प्रार्थना करना है। बहुत से बन्दी एक लम्बा समय इन सलाखों के बीच गुजार देते हैं। किसी के पास वकील नही होता है, तो किसी के पास जमानत के पैसे। अगर उन्हें मिलती है तो बार बार तारीखें। इन सलाखों के बाहर एक अलग भारत करवटें ले रहा है, आगे बढ़ रहा है जेल के बन्दी भी इसमें अपनी भूमिका निभाना चाहते हैं। लेकिन वह ऐसा नही कर सकते क्योंकि ” उनकी पहचान जेल के अन्दर एक इंसान से नही बल्कि बन्दी नंबर से है । इन लोहे की सलाखों के पीछे, “वह बन्दी अगरबत्ती और पेंटिंग तो बनाते हैं लेकिन अफसोस है उनकी खुद की जिन्दगी में न महक है और न ही रंग। “
तिनका तिनका डासना वर्तिका नंदा की उस श्रृंखला का नाम है। जिसने इसके अंदर रहने वाले लोगों के दिलों में जोश- ओ- उमंग, उनकी आंखो में नए सपने और उनके जीवन में रोशनी भर दी। इस किताब के हर पन्ने के जरिए एक ऐसे समाज को देखा जा सकता है जिसे न्याय की जरूरत है। जेल के अंदर सज़ा काटकर बाहर निकलने वाले बंदियों को समाज उतनी आसानी से स्वीकार नहीं कर पाता है जिसके वह साफ रूप से हकदार हैं। इस किताब को कुछ अलग ढंग से लिखा गया है। जिन लोगो ने जेल नहीं देखी, उनके लिए यहां तकरीबन जेल के हर अंश को बखूबी उतारा गया है। जेल का कोई भी अंश अधूरा नहीं रहा है।
“यहां खबर में कहानी, कहानी में ख़बर और जब दोनों को साथ में देखो तो पूरा सच बाहर निकलता है”।
इस किताब को 9 हिस्सों में विभाजित किया गया है। किताब का आरंभ जेलों पर लिखी गईं रिपोर्टों से किया गया है। वैसे तो इस किताब का मुख्य केंद्र डासना जेल है लेकिन इस किताब का पहला दरवाजा भारत की अनेक जेलों का एक विश्लेषण प्रस्तुत करता है। इसमें कुछ कविताएं भी लिखी गई हैं जो वर्तिका नंदा की अन्य पुस्तकों- -रानियाँ सब जानती हैं और -थी. हूँ.. और रहूँगी…से ली गई है।
किताब के दूसरे हिस्से में उन 5 जिन्दगियों की कहानी है जो आजीवन कारावास पर हैं। जेल में आने के बाद कैसे उनका जीवन बदला, कैसे सबने अपनी नई परिभाषा रचने की कोशिश की और अपने आपको उस माहौल में देखा। इसमे इन्ही 5 जिन्दगियों की दास्तान है। तीसरे हिस्से में जेल में उम्मीद के दिए हैं जो योग, संगीत, पेंटिंग, कलम, और नई तकनीक के जरिए कैसे अपनी जिन्दगियों में रोशनी फैलाने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। हर एक दीया जिन्दगियों में बखूबी रोशनी दे रहा है। चौथे हिस्से में जेल के उन अधिकारियों की कहानी है जिन्होंने अपनी कोशिश से तिनका-तिनका जोड़कर जेल के बन्दियों की जिंदगी को अच्छा बनाया है। इनकी कोशिश बन्दियों के दिल पर छपी है। शायद इनकी इन्ही कोशिश के तिनकों के जरिए जेल में जीवन संभव है। इन्ही से जेल में जीवन है। पांचवे हिस्से में उनके बारे में है जिनके जरिए तिनके आपस मे जुड़े और तिनका तिनका डासना के प्रयोग इतने सफल हुए। इन लोगों ने मिलकर तिनकों को जोड़ा है, और बन्दियों के अन्दर कुछ कर गुजरने का साहस जगाया है। छठे हिस्से में वो कविताएं हैं जो बन्दियों ने लिखी है और कलम के जरिए अपने अन्दर छिपे दर्द को बाहर कागज पर लाने का एक खूबसूरत प्रयास किया है। सांथवे हिस्से में आपकी नज़र उन कविताओं पर पड़ेंगी जो में रहने वाले बंदियों ने स्वयं लिखी हैं। यह कविताएं पूर्ण रूप से साहित्यक नहीं है परंतु इनमे दिखता हुआ दर्द ओर झलाक्ता हुआ प्यार सच्चा है। आंठवे हिस्से में उन लोगो के बारे में है जो आज भी इन जिन्दगियों के अंधेरे में डकेलने का काम कर रहे हैं। इस किताब के अंतिम और नवे हिस्से में आपको वह गीत लिखा मिलेगा जिसे खुद “वर्तिका नन्दा ” ने अपने हाथों से रचा है। जिसे जेल के बन्दियों ने ही गया है। और इसके जरिए से सुरों के संगम को बाखूभी बन्दियों के दिलो तक पहुंचाया है।
तिनका तिनका डासना में एक कैलेन्डर, कविता, गीत, दीवार, पर की गई 3D पेंटिंग के जरिए बन्दियों की जिन्दगियों में उजाला करने की और उन्हें नए सपने देखने का साहस प्रदान करने की एक अनूठी पहल की गई है। इस किताब के माध्यम से जेल के अन्दर सांस ले रहीं जिन्दगियों को करीब से जानने का मौका मिलता है।
तिनका तिनका डासना देश की दूसरी सबसे चर्चित जेल है क्योंकि किताब पर काम के दौरान इस जेल में ऐसे बंदी कैद थे जो अपने केस के दौरान चर्चा का विषय बने रहे। यहां तक कि सबसे बड़ी मर्डर मिस्ट्री “आरुषि मर्डर” केस के आरोपी डॉ. राजेश तलवार और इनकी पत्नी नूपुर तलवार भी इसी “डासना” जेल में ही बंदी थे।।
वर्तिका नंदा की इस किताब में वो कविता भी प्रकाशित हुई है जो नूपुर तलवार ने अपनी बेटी आरुषि के पर लिखी थी। तिनका तिनका डासना में ऐसी बहुत सी कविताएं प्रकाशित हुई हैं जो वहां रहने वाले बंदियों ने स्वयं लिखी हैं। इनमे से ही जेल के अंदर रहने वाले एक बंदी राम कुमार गौतम ने अपने खूबसूरत शब्दों में वर्तिका नंदा की प्रकाशित हुई इस किताब में एक कविता रची है जिसकी कुछ पंक्तियां यह हैं।
“मां पराजित नहीं हुआ हूं अभी , हताश नहीं हूं हूं कुछ तन्हा – तन्हा सा , मगर उदास नहीं हूं।”
यह पंक्तियां एक जेल में कैद बन्दी ने अपनी मां कि याद में लिखी हैं। जिसमे बन्दी ने अपनी उम्मीदों की लौ को जलाए रखा है कि वो एक दिन अपनी मां के पास वापस लौटकर अवश्य जायगा । इन्हीं कविताओं के द्वारा बंदियों को अपनी उम्मीदों को जगाए रखने का एक हौसला मिला है।तिनका तिनका डासना के अंतिम हिस्से में लेखिका ने लिखा है –
“हमने कोशिश की कि सबके हाथ में उम्मीद का कोई चिराग आ जाए फिर किसी ने अपनाया संगीत, किसी ने थमा रंगों का ब्रश और बन गया तिनका तिनका डासना। हमने चाहा है कि न बन्दियों की रातें अंधेरी रहें और न ही उनके दिन। यही है तिनका तिनका डासना। ”
किताब के अंत में वह गीत भी शामिल है जिसे वर्तिका नन्दा ने लिखा है और डासना के बन्दियों ने गया है। अब यह इस जेल का परिचय गान है। यह गीत तिनका तिनका डासना के हर तिनके की तस्वीर को जैसे उभार कर रख देता है।

तिनका तिनका डासना : जेल पर सेवा और आत्मा से लिखी एक महत्त्वपूर्ण पुस्तक
पुस्तकों में जीवन का होता है, परन्तु कई बार पुस्तक इतनी जीवंत होती है कि लगता है , हम सीधे जीवन को ही पढ़ रहे हैं। यह सच भी होता है !
वर्तिका नन्दा की एक ऐसी ही जींवत पुस्तक है-‘ तिनका तिनका डासना !’ उत्तर प्रदेश की डासना जेल पर संकेंद्रित इस पुस्तक को उस जेल में सूख चुकी फुलवारी के फिर से महकाने का या महकाने की सम्भावना का एक सुप्रयास माना जा सकता है। कैदियों के जीवन को जेल से बाहर उनके अपनों के अतिरिक्त कोई सोचता है क्या ?वर्तिका नन्दा भारतीय जेलों में सुधारात्मक कार्यों के लिए एक स्थापित नाम हैं। वे इस पुस्तक के समर्पण में लिखती हैं-
” उन तिनकों के नाम
जिन्हें बचाए रखती हैं
कहीं ऊपर से टपकने वाली
उम्मीदें !”
पुस्तक ‘तिनका तिनका डासना’ डासना जेल की जीती-जागती कहानी है, जो सहयोगात्मक रूप में ‘तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन’ की प्रमुख वर्तिका नन्दा की ज़ुबानी और उनके संकलन से संजोयी गयी है। पुस्तक नौ हिस्सों में बंटी है, सबके विषय भिन्न हैं। एक हिस्से ‘मुलाकात का कमरा-जहाँ लोहा पिघलना चाहता है’ के अंतर्गत वे लिखती हैं-” जितने साल उनका अपना यहाँ अंदर होगा, उतने साल सज़ा उनकी भी चलेगी, जो बाहर हैं। सज़ा कभी किसी को अकेले नहीं मिलती।” इसी क्रम में वे बहुत तथ्यपरक रूप से भारतीय जेलों की दशा बताते हुए उनमें महिला कैदियों व उनके बच्चों के लिए नदारद सोच पर टिप्पणी भी करती हैं। बच्चों की स्थिति को बहुत मार्मिक रूप से वे लिखती हैं -” ये बच्चे सिर्फ़ बच्चे हैं । बच्चे के घर-परिवार के कोई सवाल नहीं हैं, यहाँ पर बच्चे के लेकिन कुछ सवाल ज़रूर हैं। वे सवाल अभी शब्द बन रहे हैं। कुछ सालों में वाक्य बन जाएंगे… वे जानते हैं कि माँ रोज़ इस झूठ के साथ जीती है कि वे जल्द ही अपने घर जाएंगे।”
पुस्तक के एक अन्य हिस्से ‘तिनका तिनका ज़िन्दगी’ में लेखिका ने डासना जेल में उस समय (वर्ष 2015 ) बंद कतिपय कैदियों के तत्कालीन जीवन को भी सचित्र प्रस्तुत किया है। इसमें सबसे महत्त्वपूर्ण हैं -डॉ. राजेश तलवार व डॉ. नूपुर तलवार, अपनी ही बेटी आरुषि तलवार की हत्या के अभियुक्त। दोनों के जीवन को लेखिका ने उसी गरिमा से लिखा है, जिसके वे अधिकारी हैं। जेल में वे दोनों कैसे सेवा करते हुए जीवन व्यतीत कर रहे हैं, यह पढ़ते हुए आंखें नम हो जाती हैं । इस कांड पर उस समय मीडिया और समाज ने जो अपरिपक्वता दिखायी थी, उस पर टिप्पणी करते हुए वर्तिका नन्दा लिखती हैं-“बाहर की दुनिया उन्हें सहराती है, जिसने अपने बूते पर ही अदालतों से पहले अपने कड़े फैसले को सुना दिया।वह मीडिया रात भर की टूटती-कराहती नींद के बीच दिखता है, जिन्होंने अदालत की सुनवाई से पहले ही उन्हें दरिंदा और कातिल करार दे दिया था। वे मानते हैं कि दैविक सुनवाई होनी अभी बाकी है !” डॉ. नूपुर तलवार की चार कविताएं व डॉ. राजेश तलवार की पाँच कविताएं पुस्तक में हैं, जो उनके उनके दर्द का सैलाब हैं। इन दोनों के अतिरिक्त निठारी कांड सुरिन्दर कोली , पाँच बच्चों की हत्या के अभियुक्त रवींद्र कुमार , पत्नी हत्या के अभियुक्त सुशिक्षित अमेरिका रिटर्न राजेश झा के जेल जीवन और उनकी कविताओं को पढ़ना जेल में बंद अभियुक्तों के जीवन को सर्वथा नये रूप में समझने को विवश करता है। इसी क्रम में आजीवन कारावास की सज़ा के कैदी विजय बाबा, बीटेक कर इंजीनियर रहे प्रशांत व तब विचाराधीन बन्दी विवेक स्वामी पर लेखिका ने मर्मस्पर्शी रूप से लिखा है।
इस पुस्तक में तत्कालीन कारागार मंत्री, उत्तर प्रदेश बलवंत सिंह रामूवालिया , तत्कालीन महानिरीक्षक कारागार, उत्तर प्रदेश डॉ. देवेंद्र सिंह चौहान, डिप्टी जेलर शिवाजी यादव और फार्मासिस्ट आनन्द पांडे के विचार पढ़ना एक पृथक् अनुभूति देता है। डिप्टी जेलर शिवजी यादव को एक स्थान पर उद्धृत करते हुए लेखिका लिखती हैं- “शिवाजी मानते हैं कि जेलों में हमेशा वो सच भी उघड़ जाते हैं, जो फाइलों को छू भी नहीं पाते। इन लिहाज़ से किसी जेलर के पास अगर वक़्त और नीयत हो,तो वह हर अपराध के सच को बताने वाला सबसे सटीक स्रोत हो सकता है।” इसी प्रकार फार्मासिस्ट आनन्द पांडे की कही एक बात वे उद्धृत करती हैं- ” पहली बार जेल में आये बंदियों के साथ उनका गहरा अवसाद चलता है। इस अवसाद के बीच हर रोज़ एक नये पुल को बनाने की कला कोई सरकार नहीं सिखाती, सरोकार सिखाता है !”
पुस्तक के एक हिस्से में सात पुरुष व दो महिला कैदियों की कुल चौबीस पद्य-रचनाओं को स्थान दिया गया है। ये सभी रचनाएँ कैदियों द्वारा अपने जीवन की समग्र परिस्थितियों का अनुपम व मार्मिक चित्रण हैं। इनमें उनका वह सच है, जो अन्य के लिए अकल्पनीय व सम्भवतः अनावश्यक भी है। एक कैदी राजकुमार गौतम की ग़ज़ल के ये शेर देखिए –
” ऐ हवा इतना शोर ना कर,मैंने तूफानों को बिखरते देखा है
तूने उजाड़ा था जिन घरों को,उन्हें फिर से संवरते देखा है।
क्या हुआ जो बिखर गये मेरे सपने होकर तिनका-तिनका
मैंने तो तिनका-तिनका हुए सपनों को भी संवरते देखा है।”
महिला कैदी उपासना शर्मा की भाई को सम्बोधित कविता ‘याद’ के ये अंश देखिए –
” याद है वो लड़ना झगड़ना…
मेरी नाकामयाबी पर भी
मुझे कामयाब बताना
हमेशा मुझे पिता की तरह समझाना
वो तेरा हर वक़्त मुझे बुलाना
याद है…
नफ़रत से ज़्यादा प्यार में ताक़त होती है
सबसे ज़्यादा
आपनों के विश्वास में ताक़त होती है !”
पुस्तक ‘तिनका तिनका डासना’ मूलतः डासना जेल के कैदियों के संग ‘तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन’ की संस्थापक वर्तिका नन्दा द्वारा किये गये उन सकारात्मक व सुधारात्मक प्रयासों के प्रतिफलों का दस्तावेज हैं, जिन्हें जेल से बाहर के मनुष्य ही नहीं, प्रायः जेल के ही कैदी और कर्मी, दोनों सोच तक नहीं पाते । सबसे बड़ी कठिनाई यह है कि जेल एक उपेक्षित स्थान है, विचारक इसके बारे में सोचना नहीं चाहते , कवि कल्पना नहीं करना चाहते, दानी पहुँच नहीं पाते और सुधारक चयन नहीं कर पाते। तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन की संस्थापक और इस पुस्तक की लेखिका वर्तिका नन्दा ने उस सब ‘ना कर पाने’ को किया है और कैदियों के नज़रिए से जिया है, उन्हीं का वर्णन ‘तिनका तिनका डासना’ में है। वे ‘ साहित्य ,सृजन और पत्रकारिता : जेलों में तिनका तिनका प्रयोग’ शीर्षक के अपने लेख में लिखती हैं- ” डासना पर काम शुरु हुआ ,तो आगे बढ़ता गया…उन्हें लगने लगा कि ज़िन्दगी फिर से शुरु की जा सकती है। बस, मैं यही चाहती हूँ ! ज़िन्दगी पर पूर्ण विराम क्यों लगने दिया जाए। इस उम्मीद को बचाए रखने और बदलाव के बीच सृजन करने के लिए ही तिनका तिनका का बीज रोपा गया था। इसमें अब कोंपल आ रही है। इसे सींचने के लिए मेरे पास कोई बड़ी शक्ति नहीं है,लेकिन साहस और नीयत ज़रूर है !”
यह पुस्तक तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन के जेल सुधार कार्यक्रमों का सुंदर और महत्त्वपूर्ण संकलन है।पुस्तक की लेखिका वर्तिका नन्दा ने इसे मस्तिष्क नहीं ,आत्मा से लिखा है ,वे ही तिनका तिनका की संस्थापिका और उक्त कार्यक्रमों की विचारक-निर्देशक भी हैं। मूल सामग्री के मध्य लेखिका व अन्य के कवितांशों ने पुस्तक को प्रभावी बनाया है। सम्बद्ध चित्र मोनिका सक्सेना के हैं , जिनसे पुस्तक और प्रभावी हुई है। आवरण चित्र विवेक स्वामी का है, जो वर्ष 2015 में डासना जेल में एक विचाराधीन बन्दी थे और बाद में रिहा हो गये थे । पुस्तक का काग़ज़ उत्तम है । भाषा-शैली बहुत सूक्तिमय, प्यारी और मर्मस्पर्शी है।

यह कोई आम दीवार नहीं है, जो केवल ईंटों से बनी हो इसमें लोगो की उम्मीदें, उनकी जिंदगियों का एक स्पर्श है। जो उनकी भावनाओं को व्यक्त करती है। इसमें जो 10 चिन्ह सम्मल्लित किए गए हैं। वह केवल चिन्ह नहीं है। वह हर एक चिन्ह, कुछ ना कुछ दर्शाता है। उस पर बनी आंख जो आरुषि की आंख है जो अपने ही माता – पिता को अपने ही खून के इल्ज़ाम में देख कर आंसुओं में डूबी हुई है। एक घड़ी है, जो समय बताती है, एक खिड़की है जो उम्मीद की किरण लिए बाहर के सुनहरे नजारे को दर्शा रही है। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा उस दीवार का यह है की उसके एक तरफ चांद तारे हैं जो सुबह के समय चमकते है और दूसरी ओर वह पंक्तियां जो वहा की बंदियों की आशाओं को वेयक्त कर रही है, और उसके ठीक ऊपर सूरज है, जो रात के पहर में चमकता है। यह दीवार 3 डी इफेक्ट से बनाई गई है, इसमें रंग नहीं है, इसमें तो वह रंग हैं जो बंदियों की उमंगों से भरे हुए है। बहुत सारी आम जेलों में सिर्फ दीवार होती है, जो कुछ नहीं दर्शाती, बंदियों के मनो में कोई उम्मीद नहीं जगाती। पर यह भिन्न है और आकर्षित है। जो केवल वहां के बंदियों को ही जागरूक नहीं करती बल्कि वहां आए बाकी आम लोग, कुछ बड़े अफसरों को भी सोचने पर मजबुर करती है कि सही माइनो में जेल क्या है। और इसमें ज़िंदगी केसे व्यतीत होती है।

The song was shot in front of the Central wall of the District Jail. The central wall was painted with the title- ‘Tinka Tinka Dasna’ that revolved around the concept of incarceration.
This Tinka Tinka only effort has gone far ahead today. Due to this effort, prisoners are being successful in many tasks in their lives today. Participation in different ways has been established and also to encourage awards are provided. This striving has created a new silver lining in the lives of the prisoners. TinkaTinka’s purpose is to get the people living in prisons out of their pain and hand them over to their dreams. Society has to show a mirror and pray for judicial system to be humane. The society is not able to accept the detainees who have been sentenced to death inside the jail. To which he is clearly entitled. This book is really an eye opener. Incredible work by the President Awardee and India’s leading Prison Reformer Dr. Vartika Nanda. The books by her are indeed a gap filler between the society and the prisons in India. I went through an emotional roller coaster ride while reading this book. My perception about prison and prisoners have changed after reading this book. The Infamous Case of Arushi Talwar:
The 2008 discovery of Aarushi Talwar’s body in her Noida, Uttar Pradesh, home by her parents, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, led to the investigation of Aarushi’s case. Following an investigation, the parents and their domestic assistant Hemraj were taken into custody on charges of double murder. Twists and turns, media coverage, and public conjecture characterized the trial. The Talwars were found guilty in 2013 and given a life sentence. But the Allahabad High Court cleared them in 2017 due to a lack of proof. The Talwars added a chapter to the history of Dasna Jail by spending a large portion of this ordeal there.

Dr. Vartika Nanda is a prison reformer, media educator, and the founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation. With a Ph.D in Journalism, she is presently the Head of the Department of Journalism in LSR, Delhi University. President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Stree Shakti Puraskar on her in 2014. Dr. Nanda has dedicated her life to bringing forward more ethical and just reforms and incentives for the lives of inmates. Tinka Tinka Dasna ( February 14, 2016)
Conceptualized, written and directed by Dr. Nanda, the theme song was sung by 13 inmates of Dasna jail and with an effort to spread the message of love and bonding within jails, the song was composed. The Dasna jail created history on Valentine’s Day with the release of the theme song by the Minister of Prisons, Uttar Pradesh Government. As a rare occasion, the jail minister declared the song as the theme song of the jail in front of about 3,000 inmates. It was shot right in front of the wall that was created by three inmates including Vivek Swami. The special wall which is the first wall of its kind painted inside the four walls of prison with the theme and a concept witnessed the release of the song. Composed by Brij Mohan Sharma, Dharamveer and Shahzad, The theme song highlights the various aspects of the lives behind the bus in the does not jail and is highlighted with the components of flame, hope and prayers. On behalf of Tinka Tinka, special certificates were also presented to the team of singers and composers on the occasion.
