Central jails in Tamil Nadu have come together to deal with the shortage of masks in the state. After procuring raw material, the prison department engaged 150 inmates in tailoring units in central prisons including Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Vellore, and Madurai. Inmates in these jails are manufacturing three–layer masks. These inmates were trained by private companies for making masks according to the standards set by the State government. These inmates have stitched more than 4 lakh masks since the third week of March. Of these, the police department has procured over 2lakh masks for its personnel on duty.
Government medical college hospitals and various district administrations and public undertaking firms have procured 40,000 pieces while private firms have bought nearly 6,000.
These inmates have been equipped to stitch more than 15 lakh surgical masks with the available raw material.
While in lock down, we are all mostly surrounded by bad news. In such conditions there have been many advancements which we don’t know about and some are deliberately not shown to us. In such condition too, Tinka Tinka has been working hard to provide news about the inmates who have been working hard. Like in this article. Like in this article, the inmates in Tamil Nadu have really helped the government a lot. 2 lakhs masks used by the police personnel on duty. I sometimes wonder why such news are not trending in the T.V. channels and all
The stories that I have seen on the channel began with covering jails in Rajasthan, then it covered the Agra Central Jail, jail in Madhya Pradesh, Montage, then it progressed to report about the four jails of Mau, Hamirpur, Meerut and Pilibhit it then covered the jail of Haldwani, Uttarakhand, the jail in Maharashtra, the jail in Chandigarh, Sonbhadra jail, jail in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Telangana, Kerala and the latest news was centred around jails in West Bengal. Strangely, all these prisons that are engaged in making masks and sanitisers, for themselves, for the government and private authorities, haven’t been appreciated enough by most of the media houses. The role of media is crucial, it happens to be the forth pillar of a democracy, it is responsible for spreading awareness among the general public. They ought to report news that may help the society progress, they ought to appreciate worthy enough individuals irrespective of where they come from. They can facilitate in bridging the gap between the society and prisons. But sadly, apparently all they care about are their TRP gains. #vartikananda #tinkatinka #jail #prison
