Corona Jail Diary: Odisha

Inmates of Baripada Circle Jail have joined the fight against Corona by making masks for distribution among people at shelter homes and old age centres.

Jail officials have been assisting inmates in sewing masks. According to the Baripada Circle Jail Superintendent, eight inmates are engaged in stitching masks in the jail.

More than 700 masks have been distributed among inmates and those living in shelter houses and old age homes. Inmates are willing to stitch masks for the district administration too. The inmates are trained in stitching clothes made of cotton, which are sold in a store near the prison.

  1. When someone goes into jail people just starting judging and give them label they are never going to change but it’s not the case with most of it. We need to understand their stories, their reasons behind it, and try to change.   2. Inmates of Odisha jail are also helping in the preparation of masks. They are preparing and distributing them among Shelter home and Old aged centres to protect themselves from virus. At the same time they are taking proper precautions by putting masks while stitching.

During this lockdown when it’s hard for the people living outside to meet their family.
