Due to the restrictions issued in March 2020 in response to the Corona virus outbreak, there are currently no social visits being held at Drake Hall. To ensure that women are able to maintain their relationships with family and friends during this period, a video calling service is being rolled out. The prison department is working with a private company, Purple Visits, to provide secure video calls.
This service is not available in all prisons yet and is intended to be in place here for the duration of the emergency restrictions on social visits.
Vartika ma’am is working really hard to make prisoner’s life more serene as they are also human beings like us. It’s something unique and out of the box thinking for the prisoners. Connecting them to their relatives by phone because the family can’t meet them at this crucial time via video call is a bold move. In this global pandemic where world is suffering being isolated from friends and family and connecting with them with the help of vedio conferencing; inmates are also avoid meetings to prevent direct contact. As Tinka Tinka foundation put forward the idea of having vedio conferencing for them too and reconcile the issue of being frantic in this outbreak. The First Efforts ever to prepare something like Jail News is done by TINKA TINKA.
This become the only means for the inmates to connect. The society always neglect women issues even if they are imprisoned or not. But the initiative start in Drake hall literally means alot for them.

During the pandemic we all were so preoccupied with our own problems, we forgot about how basic government institutions functioned. No media attention was paid to the prison administration during this time, but as always Tinka Tinka brought this to our attention. Inmates have made some great sacrifices during these challenging times, some were unable to go out on parole while others were unable to have visitors.
